Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation Approves 15 Large Impact Grants Totaling Over $850,000

“We are pleased to announce the Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation has approved 15 large Impact Grants totaling $855,241 to area nonprofit agencies to promote the health, wellness or disease prevention of persons within the Foundation’s Service Area”, said Desiree Prohaska, Executive Vice President & Chief Wealth Management Officer of Idaho Trust Bank, Trustee of the Foundation. The Foundation’s Service Area includes nine counties: Clearwater, Idaho, Latah, Lewis and Nez Perce in Idaho; Asotin, Garfield and Whitman in Washington; and, Wallowa in Oregon.

Earlier this year, the Foundation awarded approximately $330,000 in Fast Track grants, bringing the combined total awarded for Fast Track and large Impact Grants during 2023 to over $1,180,000.

The large Impact Grant is intended for grant requests up to $100,000 and priority is given to applicants that demonstrate a commitment to long-term vision, and projects that address the root causes that affect health, wellness, and help disease prevention.

The Foundation has a volunteer Board of Community Advisors that review all of the grant applications received by the Foundation and make grant award recommendations to the Trustee. Chairman of the Board of Community Advisors, Joe Travis, stated “The Board of Community Advisors is happy to recommend the distribution of over $1 million dollars to the many deserving non-profit recipients to help improve the health and wellness of our local community members. We represent the thousands of people who helped build St. Joseph Hospital in Lewiston, from its founding in 1901, to the sale in 2017. The Trust created by the Idaho Attorney General after the sale in 2017 is what provides this important annual funding, but if it hadn’t been for the many dedicated healthcare professionals that ran the hospital as a non- profit for over 100 years, this funding source would not exist.”
