Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation announces Fast-Track Grant awards

The Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation has approved $161,500 in Fast-Track Grants to 19 area organizations in the Foundation’s Service Area, LCVHF officials have announced.

The Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation funds grants to promote the health, wellness, or disease prevention of persons  in the Foundation’s three-state, nine-county Service Area: Clearwater, Idaho, Latah, Lewis and Nez Perce in Idaho; Asotin, Garfield and Whitman in Washington; and Wallowa in Oregon.

The Fast-Track Grant, is a quick turnaround grant of $2,500 to $10,000 intended for small nonprofits that focus on health, wellness or disease prevention. Fast-Track Grant applications can be submitted through May 31. The grants are reviewed and awarded monthly. Community Advisors to the Foundation review the Fast-Track Grant applications and make grant award recommendations to the Trustee. Idaho Trust Bank administers the Foundation as its Trustee.

Nonprofit organizations and government agencies from 10 cities in the Foundation’s Service Area are among the Fast-Track Grant recipients approved in April. The requests varied from Family mentorship and care packages for newborns to an on-site container garden.

Here is the list of organizations that received a Fast-Track Grant including the amount awarded, and what the grant funds will be used for:

  • Public Health – North Idaho Central District, Lewiston, $10,000, Oral Health Equipment Upgrade.
  • Lili GC Foundation, Lewiston, $10,000, Nutritional Services.
  • Red Door Kitchen/First Christian Church, Clarkston, $10,000, Operating Expenses.
  • Moscow Central Lions Club Foundation, Moscow, $6,500, Vision and Hearing Assistance.
  • Walla Walla Senior Center, Walla Walla, $10,000, Senior Nutrition Program in Asotin County.
  • Moscow Area Moms Alliance, Inc., Moscow, $10,000, Family Mentorship and Care Packages for Newborns.
  • Wallowa Valley Health Care Foundation, Enterprise, $10,000, MRI Challenge.
  • City of Troy, Troy, $7,500, Troy Summer Youth Program.
  • Lowell Quick Response Unit, Kooskia, $7,500, Emergency Quick Response AEDs and EMT Emergency Jump Kits.
  • Rosalia Volunteer Firefighters Association, Rosalia, $5,000, OB Training mannequin and anatomy skeleton.
  • Pine Creek Community Restoration Long Term, Rosalia, $4,000, Community Health and Safety.
  • Idaho Resilience Project Inc., Boise, $10,000, H.O.P.E. Week Community Activation.
  • Inland Oasis, Moscow, $5,000, Inland Oasis On-Site Container Garden.
  • The Council on Aging & Human Services/COAST Transportation, Colfax, $6,000, COAST Transportation repairs/maintenance.
  • Joseph Branch Trail Consortium, Enterprise, $10,000, Capacity Building to grow outreach and development of ADA-Compliant Trail for health and wellness.
  • Tahoe QRU, Kooskia, $10,000, Tahoe Quick Response Unit.
  • Gina Quesenberry Foundation, Lewiston, $10,000, Travel Assistance Program.
  • The Friendly Senior Citizens of Troy, Troy, $10,000, Food Insecurities.
  • Homes of Hope, Lewiston, $10,000, Capacity building and operations.

The Foundation’s larger “Impact Grant” Season will open June 1st. The Impact Grant application will be available on the website on June 1st. Impact Grants are intended for requests from $25,000 to $100,000. Priority will be given to applications that demonstrate a commitment to long-term vision and projects that address the root causes that affect health, wellness, and help prevent disease. Impact Grant applications are due July 31. Community Advisors to the Foundation will review the Impact Grant applications and make grant award recommendations to the Trustee. The Trustee will notify the organizations that are selected for funding prior to November 15th.

The Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation was established in 2017 by Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden as part of the sale of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center by Ascension Health to RCCH Healthcare Partners. Those eligible to apply for grants are nonprofit tax-exempt organizations with 501(c)(3) classification from the IRS, and governmental entities or government or public organizations described in I.R.C. § 170(c)(1) (political subdivisions of a state or federal government) or I.R.C. § 511(a)(2)(B) (state colleges and universities), even if it is not described in I.R.C. § 501(c)(3), provided that any grant to such governmental or public organization must be made exclusively for charitable purposes as described in I.R.C. § 170(c)(2)(B), subject to any additional limitations under 26 C.F.R. § 53.4945-5(a)(4), or corresponding provisions of any subsequent Federal tax laws.. All proposals must be for health, wellness, or disease prevention to qualify.
