Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation announces 2nd Round of small Fast-Track Grant awards
“The Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation continues to support efforts and organizations that promote health, wellness and prevent disease by awarding $97,355.00 in small Fast-Track Grants to 12 area organizations during its 2nd round of Fast Track Grants,” said Desiree Prohaska, Executive Vice President & Chief Wealth Management Officer of Idaho Trust Bank, Trustee of the Foundation.
The Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation’s small Fast-Track grant is a quick turnaround grant of $2,500 to $10,000 intended for small health and wellness focused nonprofits with annual operating budgets of under $250,000 that serve rural communities in the Foundation’s three-state, nine-county Service Area: Clearwater, Idaho, Latah, Lewis and Nez Perce in Idaho; Asotin, Garfield and Whitman in Washington; and Wallowa in Oregon.
Below is a list of the 12 organizations from 8 cities in the Foundation’s Service Area that submitted an application in April and were awarded a small Fast-Track Grant in May including the amount of the grant awarded, and what the funds will be used for:
- Willow Center Inc., Lewiston, ID, $10,000, Grief Mental Health Support Group.
- Family Promise of Lewis Clark Valley Inc., Lewiston, ID, $10,000, Family Shelter Program and Diaper Bank.
- The Pullman Community Council on Aging, Pullman, WA, $4,860, Well-Being Need of Seniors.
- NAMI Idaho (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill), Boise, ID, $10,000, Region 2 Crisis Intervention Team Training.
- Interlink, Inc., Clarkston, WA, $10,000, Volunteer Transportation For The Disabled.
- Whitman County Public Health, Colfax, WA, $10,000, Whitman County Community Clinic.
- West Park Elementary in Partnership with Safe Routes to School Moscow and University of Idaho, Moscow, ID, $10,000, All Kids Bike Kindergarten-1st Grade Biking Curriculum.
- Juliaetta-Kendrick Good Samaritan Food Bank, Kendrick, ID, $4,000, Food Bank.
- Lewiston Clarkston Lions Club, Lewiston, ID, $9,995, Eyesight and Hearing Equipment for School Screenings.
- Friendly Neighbor Senior Citizens Inc., Moscow, ID, $6,000, Food Service.
- Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewiston, ID, $2,500, Free Community Dinner.
- Potlatch Food Pantry Corporation, Potlatch, ID, $10,000, Monthly Food Purchases.
“Although the deadline to apply for a small Fast-Track Grant this year has passed, the Foundation’s large Impact Grant season opened on June 1st, 2024 and we encourage all qualified organizations to apply”, stated Desiree Prohaska. The large Impact Grant is intended for requests ranging from $25,000 to $100,000. Priority is given to large Impact Grant applicants that demonstrate a commitment to long-term vision and projects that address the root causes that affect health, improve wellness, and help prevent disease. The large Impact Grant application is currently available on the Foundation’s website and is due July 31.
The Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation was established in 2017 by Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden as part of the sale of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center by Ascension Health to RCCH Healthcare Partners. Those eligible to apply for grants are nonprofit tax-exempt organizations with 501(c)(3) classification from the IRS, and governmental entities or government or public organizations described in I.R.C. § 170(c)(1) (political subdivisions of a state or federal government) or I.R.C. § 511(a)(2)(B) (state colleges and universities), even if it is not described in I.R.C. § 501(c)(3), provided that any grant to such governmental or public organization must be made exclusively for charitable purposes as described in I.R.C. § 170(c)(2)(B), subject to any additional limitations under 26 C.F.R. § 53.4945-5(a)(4), or corresponding provisions of any subsequent Federal tax laws.. All proposals must be for health, wellness, or disease prevention to qualify.
Idaho Trust Bank administers the Foundation as the Trustee.
