Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation Approves 15 Large Impact Grants Totaling Over $815,000
“We are pleased to announce the Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation has approved 15 Large Impact Grants totaling $815,821 to area nonprofit agencies to promote health, wellness or disease prevention of persons within the Foundation’s Service Area,” said Desiree Prohaska, Executive Vice President & Chief Wealth Management Officer of Idaho Trust Bank, Trustee of the Foundation.
The Large Impact Grants are intended for requests up to $100,000 and priority is given to applicants that demonstrate a commitment to long-term vision and projects that have a close nexus to improving health, wellness, and disease prevention.
Community Advisors to the Foundation reviewed the Large Impact Grant applications and made grant award recommendations to the Trustee. “We would like to thank all of the organizations that submitted a grant application and appreciate the Foundation’s Board of Community Advisors for all their hard work and careful review of the grants applications,” commented Desiree Prohaska.
“On behalf of the Board of Community Advisors I want to congratulate the recipients of this year’s Impact Grant awards. Each year we get more applications, so choosing the recipients of the limited pool of funds is challenging. We appreciate the time and effort that each requestor devotes to preparing their application. I personally think of the Sisters who started our local hospital in 1901 and the thousands of dedicated Doctors, staff and donors who built and grew St. Josephs over the years. If it weren’t for them we wouldn’t have this pool of money to help support healthcare needs in our area,” commented Board of Community Advisors Chairman, Joe Travis.
Below is the list of organizations that were recommended by the Board of Community Advisors and approved by the Trustee to receive a 2022 Impact Grant including the amount awarded and what the grant funds will be used for:
- Snake River Community Clinic, $96,848, HEALER project lll: Practice and Outreach
- Community Health Association of Spokane (dba, CHAS Health), $100,000, Lewiston Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC).
- Nez Perce Tribe Health Authority (Nimiipuu Health), $55,720, Nimiipuu Health Toxicology Analysis Capacity.
- Interlink, Inc. $50,000, Volunteer Transportation, New Federal Matching Money.
- Community Health Association of Spokane (dba, CHAS Health), $40,000, Patient Assistance Program.
- Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness, 15,000, Dual Diagnosis Drop in Center.
- Suicide Prevention of the Inland Northwest, $50,000, SPIN Annual Activities.
- Kamiah Food Bank, Inc., $70,000, 2022 Equipment Upgrade & Food Purchasing.
- The Idaho Foodbank, $75,000, Mobile Pantries in North Central Region.
- Lewis-Clark Council St. Vincent DePaul, $35,000, Help Idaho Families.
- Winding Waters Medical Clinic, $100,000, Wallowa Integrated Primary Care Clinic.
- St Vincent de Paul Society – Moscow Conference of St. Francis of Assisi, $25,000, Emergency housing, medical care and utilities fund – Latah County.
- Backyard Harvest, $40,000, Lewis-Clark Valley Volunteer and Rural Food Distribution Expansion Plan.
- Northwest Children’s Home, Inc., $26,253, TRU: Local Access for Healing and Resilience.
- Clearwater Quick Response Unit Incorporated, $37,000, Purchase of a Lifepak 15 monitor.
Earlier this year, the Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation awarded 60 Fast Track grants totaling more than $455,000, bringing the total awarded during 2022 by the Foundation to over $1,271,000. The 2022 grant recipients will be recognized at a Grant Award Celebration on December 7, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. PST.
The Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation was established in 2017 by Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden as part of the sale of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center by Ascension Health to RCCH Healthcare Partners. The Idaho Attorney General’s office established specific guidelines for the grants and the Foundation’s Board of Community Advisors reviews and recommends the grants to be made. Those eligible to apply for grants are nonprofit tax-exempt organizations with 501(c)(3) classification from the IRS, or governmental entities, if used exclusively for charitable purposes of the trust. All proposals must be for health, wellness or disease prevention to qualify.
